Any treatment programme being considered should be regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is the new health and social care regulator for England. CQC registers, and therefore licenses, providers of care services that meet essential standards of quality and safety, and monitor them to make sure they continue to meet these standards.

It is possible to locate treatment programmes that are not regulated, and this is something that individuals should be wary of.
